Arizona
Working from my home in Tucson, I have ready access to the diverse landscapes that make up our corner of the Southwest. Surrounded by mountain ranges that reach over 9,000 feet above sea level, the Tucson basin rests in the high Sonoran Desert resulting in an environment of snow in the pine and aspen forests in the mountains to cactus forests in the valleys, and river channels connecting the two extremes. The rivers run dry in between the intermittent monsoon rainstorms during the summer months, but fill again as they are fed by snowmelt and natural springs in the winter months. The presence of water is so important in this region and I am drawn to it and compelled to express it in my paintings.
