Montana
"The Big Sky Country", aptly named for its immense vistas that are dominated by a sky that constantly changes not only with the seasons, but also with the weather - hour by hour. Montana can also be described as two states in one: the western half, dominated by the Rocky Mountains, Continental Divide and the majority of the population; and the eastern half, dominated by prairie, farms, ranches, and major rivers, including the Missouri River and the only remaining undammed major river in the US - the Yellowstone. As a fourth generation Montana native, I have deep roots in the landscape and find endless painting opportunities that have special meaning to me, from numerous hikes in the mountain wildernesses to my family's history in agriculture, mining, and government.
